INTRODUCTION
As a dedicated Nurse Practitioner specialising in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, my journey has been fueled by a deep passion for advocating for the well-being of young people. This commitment led me to pursue a career as a Nurse Practitioner, where I am able to offer families a holistic approach to care. Through evidence-based clinical support and inclusive therapeutic involvement, I strive to provide comprehensive services that address the unique needs of each individual. My goal is to empower both young people and their families to navigate the challenges of mental health with resilience and hope.
EXPERIENCE
I have extensive experience in the healthcare sector, spanning over two decades across two countries. My career began with a year of district nursing in South Africa, where I developed foundational skills in community healthcare. I then specialised in pediatric and neonatal intensive care, gaining critical experience in high-stakes environments. Following this, I spent another two years in South Africa working in community mental health, which sharpened my skills in mental health care. The majority of my experience has been dedicated to child and adolescent mental health in New Zealand, where I have focused on providing exceptional care and support to young people and their families.
EDUCATION
I hold a Master of Nursing degree from the University of Auckland, completed in May 2015. Prior to this, I earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences from the same institution, which I completed in November 2011. My foundational training includes a Diploma in Nursing (covering General, Psychiatric, Community nursing, and Midwifery) from Natal College of Nursing, R K Khan Campus, completed in South Africa. These qualifications collectively underpin my comprehensive expertise in the nursing field. I have completed a PG Certificate in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy- CBT, as well as completing specialist courses to include EMDR, motivational interviewing, ACT and ADOS-2 assessments.
